Although Microsoft Power BI is not a hard-core MS Office component in the sense that the other MS Office suite applications (like MS Excel, MS Word or MS Access) are, as it is not a component application that can be installed with the rest of the MS Office suite desktop applications, or accessed within the Office 365 offering, Power BI can be considered to be a layer that can sit on top of the hard-core MS Office suite and which can enhance the numbers-oriented MS Office suite applications greatly.

Our Microsoft Power BI courses are designed to give students who are already familiar with MS Excel or MS Access, or both, the necessary knowledge base and skills to leverage existing data and to use it to create captivating and insightful linked dashboards that can serve as powerful decision-making tools. Since the usage of MS Power BI is not as prevalent as that of other hard-core MS Office tools, in this set of courses we make it a point to not only illustrate the application and its features, but also to delve into data management and database concepts that will allow users to make the best of the opportunities provided by the tool.

Accordingly, as with all our other Microsoft Office courses, this course is modularly structured with a view to enable individuals or organisations interested in this course to be able to pick and choose what suits them best for their specific requirements and circumstances.

The modules available for this specialisation are:

  • Module 1: An introduction to Power BI, Business Intelligence Principles and Database Principles
  • Module 2: SQL basics
  • Module 3: Data Extraction, Transformation, Loading and Modelling with Power BI
  • Module 4: Data Cleaning, Calculations and working with DAX
  • Module 5: Creating dashboards and fully unleashing the power of Power BI

Our Microsoft Word courses are designed to be able to take students from a very basic level of knowledge all the way through to becoming MS Word experts. MS Word is not a very complex platform, but it does have some efficiency-enhancing features that require a certain degree of knowledge and expert mastery in order to ensure that that users are capitalising on all the efficiencies that may be squeezed out of MS Word. This is ultimately the only way of avoiding unnecessarily frustrating work practices (like manually keying in table of contents or section and sub-section numbering) and avoidable problems (like problems with discontinuities in page numbering, citations, bookmarks and cross-references). Given the prevalence of use of MS Word, not everyone will need to start the course at the entry level to be able to progress to becoming an expert.

Accordingly, as with all our other Microsoft Office courses, this course is modularly structured with a view to enable individuals or organisations interested in this course to be able to pick and choose what suits them best for their specific requirements and circumstances.

The modules available for this specialisation are:

  • Module 1: Exploring and customising MS Word 2016
  • Module 2: Creating and managing files, templates, presets, designs and pictures
  • Module 3: Modifying the structure, function, formatting and appearance of text and automating text instances
  • Module 4: Collaborating on documents, using forms and using fields
  • Module 5: Understanding the mail merge process and managing MS Word Add-ins
  • Module 6: Advanced MS Word options and settings for optimising tasks

Microsoft Publisher is an entry-level desktop publishing application, differing from MS Word only in that the emphasis is placed on page layout and design rather than text composition and proofing. Indeed, for those who manage to master MS Word to a very high degree, MS Publisher becomes redundant. For everyone else, MS Publisher is an application that will make life much easier when documents that need eye-catching layouts to be presented are required. MS Publisher is very easy-to-use and provides a rudimentary alternative to the “heavyweights” in desktop publishing like Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Quark Express. Indeed, MS Publisher is targeted to the small business market where firms do not have dedicated design professionals available to make marketing materials and other documents.

Our Microsoft Publisher courses cover everything there is to know about desktop publishing with this entry-level tool.

The modules available for this specialisation are:

  • Module 1: Working with templates, shapes, images, graphics and backgrounds
  • Module 2: Formatting text, objects colour correction and photo editing tools to customize publications

Microsoft PowerPoint is the de facto industry standard when it comes to presentations. Creating presentations in MS PowerPoint is a fairly straightforward task. However, not all presentations are made the same. Indeed, in order to create captivating presentations, it is necessary to be able to do better than throwing in a few snippets of text around the slide work area, and this course tries to impart the skills to allow you to turn an otherwise stale presentation into a stunning and memorable one.

The modules available for this specialisation are:

  • Module 1: Customising the MS PowerPoint interface and configuring Add-ins
  • Module 2: Creating, managing, formatting and optimising enthralling presentations for screen and print in line with best practice design standards
  • Module 3: Inserting, aligning and formatting text, shapes, images and WordArt
  • Module 4: Working with tables, table structures, SmartArt, charts, media, OLE and elements
  • Module 5: Applying and configuring transitions, timing, motion paths and animations
  • Module 6: Merging, comparing, reviewing, finalising and protecting content from multiple presentations
