Equinox Academy’s Project Management course is made up of a series of modules that cover the project management function, role and required skills in depth. It is accredited by the NCFHE at MQF Level 6 and rather than dealing with the various aspects of project management that it deals with in a vacuum, it contextualises everything in an organisational-political context. We deliver our project management training this way because we are firm believers that organisational politics (and national politics in public projects also has a bearing) plays a very significant and important role in the conception, execution and the finalisation of projects. This course is designed to be a practical, hands-on course that carefully selects between those theories and practices that have very little if any empirical use and those that do.

The skills required to manage projects have become indispensable and are considered to be a highly desirable skill for managers at all levels of an organisation. Change has become a permanent feature in an organisation with the rapid growth of new technology, a greater focus on quality and continuous improvement, and reengineering of processes for efficacy and effectiveness. This course in Project Management (Accredited MQF Level 6) provides participants a structured and organised way to achieve success when managing projects. The course is designed in such a way so as not to offer participants complex theories to learn, but to provide them with the tools and techniques for effective and successful project management in a relatively simple and practical way.

Bernard Mallia

Our trainer for this module, Bernard Mallia is not just another run-of-the-mill MS Excel trainer. Our training is exclusively designed for professionals and we strongly believe that professionals should not just expect a trainer who can showcase the tools of MS Excel using rote operations. Bernard is an experienced independent consultant and adviser in the fields of economics, project management, ICT and Information Systems. He has a polymathic background and was awarded his first degree in Commerce with a specialisation in Public Policy and Economics, as well as an honours degree in Public and Private Sector Management from the University of Malta. He pursued post- graduate studies at the University of Edinburgh where he read for a M.Sc. in Economics, and at the European University where he read for a M.Sc. in Information Systems. He has also been the recipient of diplomas in Computerised Bookkeeping (IAB), Project Management (CIC), and Advertising and Public Relations (CIC). Bernard is a certified MS Office advanced user and a SQL Server 2005 Microsoft Certified Professional. Bernard delivers courses in:

Diana Spiteri

Diana Spiteri obtained a B.A (Hons) in Europeans Studies at the University of Malta and has over eight years’ experience in EU Affairs, of which, over four years in Research and Innovation (R&I) Programmes, Projects and Policy. Diana Spiteri was Malta’s Programme Committee Member and National Contact Point for Research and Innovation at EU Level for SMEs, International Cooperation, Energy, Environment, Transport (incl. Aviation), Health as well as other areas.
Diana Spiteri simultaneously worked on coaching both national and international clients with their R&I, to help them develop their ideas into concrete winning projects as well as enable them to team up with key international experts for the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and Horizon 2020.

Diana Spiteri has also held a number of stakeholder meetings in various sectors especially in her role for Strategy – thus enabling Public, Private, Academic and European relations to secure engagement for collaboration, whilst also assisting individual researchers and entities to network and partner up to better their expertise and collaborate with others in Europe and beyond.
Moreover, Diana Spiteri has conducted a number of trainings both locally and abroad, related to coaching ideas from innovation to market given her experience with managing national, regional and EU funding programmes. She has also held training workshops on proposal writing, evaluation, reporting and financials for local and EU funds, thus ensuring that clients can truly master the innovation cycle to deliver innovation driven ideas to market.

Irene De Bernardin

Irene De Bernardin is Projects Coordinator at Equinox Advisory.

Irene holds a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Diplomatic Studies from the University of Trieste, in Italy, specializing in European Projects Management for International Cooperation. As a Junior Policy Officer at the Brussels Delegation of the Association of Chamber of Commerce for the Veneto Region (Italy), she analysed European Affairs to support small and medium enterprises, identifying the most interesting political instruments and funds made available for the Venetian region.

Irene further enhanced her professional expertise by working for over three years as a Project Manager at Eurosportello Veneto, the European Information Centre hosted by the Association of the Chamber of Commerce of the Veneto Region. Irene is very fluent with EU funding instruments, especially those directly managed by the European Commission, in the field of energy, research & innovation, tourism, education and culture. She was technically and financially responsible for EU funded projects, assuring the sound management of foreseen activities, and contributed to the submission of several project proposals to various EU programmes. Moreover, she has years of experience with supporting small and medium enterprises and public authorities in developing their ideas as well as guiding them towards internationalisation. Irene is also experienced with structural funds, particularly with European Regional Development Funds. Finally, she has held training workshops on proposal writing and reporting as well as on local and EU funds for private and public stakeholders, thus ensuring that clients can successfully submit their project ideas.

Irene’s areas of interest include Proposal Writing and Project Management, EU Affairs and EU Funding Instruments, Research and Innovation, Tourism promotion, Education and Training programmes.

The Fee for the Course is as follows:

  • Registration Fee (Non-Refundable): EUR 35;
